Documenting the Work of the Consejo para la Protección y Preservación de la Ceremonia Ritual de Voladores

Documenting the Work of the Consejo para la Protección y Preservación de la Ceremonia Ritual de Voladores

This project is working with the Consejo para la Protección y Preservación de la Ceremonia Ritual de Voladores, which is based in, but not limited to, the Totonaca nation of Mexico, in order to document their activities. The Consejo is working to preserve a ceremony associated with the earth’s fertility. In trying to recreate and understand what the ritual means, we are unearthing complex issues in trying to understand who the Totonaca are and where they are heading. The Totonaca are documenting this learning process in order to pass the knowledge on to their children, who they believe must know where they come from if they are to have a future.
